Computer Technician:

The Computer Technician performs the following functions:
(a) installs and updates software packages, configures computer hardware and operating systems,
(b) troubleshoots and rectifies problems that are encountered in the functioning of all
school computers, including desk tops, lap tops and related accessories and
equipment - CPU, computer screens, keyboards, mice, printers, photocopiers, etc.,
(c) generally, diagnoses and repairs both hardware and software malfunctions,
(d) plans, designs and implements computer networks and tests and installs computers in the network, (e}he/she enables computer users to be linked through the network in order to send electronic mail, to share data, computer applications and Internet connections,
(f) selects appropriate media (e.g. twisted-pair copper wire, coaxial cable, fibre-optic cable, wireless) and recommends appropriate network addressing system and appropriate connection devises,
(g) installs and manages a computerized school database that allows the storage and retrieval of the school's information system electronically, including student and employee information and school property and
(i}administers the school website, including writing and updating content.

Job Title: Systems Analyst II (1 post)
Report to: IT Manager

a) Duties
Managing all operations concerning information system
Installing ICT appliances and software
Troubleshooting and providing solutions to computer related problems
Supporting ORCI on the use of ICT
Maintaining ICT security
Advising users on the efficient use of computer systems
Demonstrating new computer systems to users
Perform any other duties as shall be assigned by his/her superior.

b)Required Qualifications:
Holder of Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems; Telecommunication or related computer studies from a recognized Institution.

Information Technology Officer at Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC)

Information Technology Officer II POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC) was established under the Public Corporations Act No. 17 of 1969 by a Presidential Order through Government Notice number 115, published on 25th August, 1978. The Centre is wholly owned by the Government of United Republic of Tanzania and operates under the purview of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.
The AICC was established to manage and control the Headquarters’ complex of the defunct East African Community in Arusha which belonged to the defunct East African Community. It also owns Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre as per Arusha International Conference Centre (Amendment) Order of 2014, dated 19th March, 2014; and provide facilities and services on the complex for purposes of conferences, meetings, seminars etc.
The Centre invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill in the below mentioned vacant post:-

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER II (ONE POST)

Answerable to Senior Information Technology Officer
(a) Qualifications and Experience
Holder of Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Communication Technology or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution with at least three years working experience
Must be specialized in Programing and well versed in PHP, JavaScript en databases such as MySQL and MS SQL.

(b) Duties and Responsibilities
i. Assist in the provision of technical advice on procurement of MIS equipment, hardware and soft ware
ii. Assist to prepare MIS regulations and guidelines
iii. Assist in installation and maintaining a modern Management Information System.
iv. Provide technical support in application of Information Technology.
v. Finding the causes of ICT systems problems and make necessary restructuring.
vi. Reporting and repairing ICT system problems.
vii. Attending daily ICT system problems and keeping records of maintenance.
viii. Recommending policies, standards and standard procedures for the controlling efficient use of ICT systems in the Centre.
ix. Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets and manpower plans for the Information Technology Unit.
x. Maintaining records on the condition the ICT system performance in the Centre.
xi. Ensuring that required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually reports regarding ICT activities are prepared on time
xii. Researching and producing specifications
xiii. Designing and writing new software programs;
xiv. Testing new programs and fault finding;
xv. Developing existing programs by analysing and identifying areas for modification;
xvi. Integrating existing software products and getting incompatible platforms to work together;
xvii. Creating technical specifications and test plans;
xviii. Preparing training manuals for users
xix. Maintaining systems by monitoring and correcting software defects;
xx. Investigating new technologies;
xxi. Performing any other duties relevant to the scope of work that may be assigned by the Senior Information Technology Officer.
