WWF Tanzania Country Office is seeking to hire an experienced and motivated individual for the position of Wildlife Species Conservation Officer to be based in Dar-es-salaam to provide vision, content, and leadership to drive the development of high impact wildlife conservation and species protection efforts.

Responsibilities:

WWF has deep roots in Tanzania and is respected for its longstanding experience, knowledge, and programs as a leader in wildlife conservation. The Wildlife Species Conservation Officer will have the ability and motivation to harness WWF’s considerable strengths and draw from the global approaches, tools, and resources WWF can bring to the wildlife conservation challenges Tanzania is facing (including TRAFFIC, the Wildlife Crime Initiative, the zero-poaching framework, leadership in community-based conservation, and trans-boundary reach of WWF).

The successful candidate will bring strategic leadership in developing WWF’s wildlife conservation efforts and positioning the organization to deliver significant conservation impacts. Key functional areas for this position are:

1) Strategic Planning, Research, and Monitoring: Informing and influencing the elephant and rhino conservation management strategies, plans, policies, and resource flows of targeted partners and stakeholders – including NGOs, government, and international cooperation agencies. Identifying needs and gaps for wildlife research and monitoring, and marshaling resources to address them. (Lead role.)
2) Law Enforcement and Anti-Poaching: Strengthening law enforcement and anti-poaching activities of key partners and stakeholders by bringing support for improved surveillance, inspections, trans-boundary collaboration, judicial action, and intelligence. (Lead role.)
3) Community Based Resource Management: Scaling up community based approaches to wildlife and forest management to empower communities as managers and beneficiaries of wildlife and resource stewardship and to reduce degradation of critical habitats.
4) Trafficking and Demand Reduction: Engaging with the WWF Network and external partners on reducing demand for ivory and other illegal wildlife products though market led approaches, public awareness campaigning, advocacy, and enhanced international cooperation. The position will contribute to this work by sharing lessons, research, and experience from Tanzania.

Qualifications:

High level of wildlife conservation expertise with experience in one or more of the following areas - protected area management, anti-poaching, wildlife management and monitoring, community-based wildlife
Previous experience in priority African elephant (and rhino) countries or landscapes with knowledge of policy, management, sustainable use, and wildlife crime issues impacting their conservation.
Ability to design and manage wildlife conservation programs.
Practical understanding of field conditions and field implementation challenges with the ability to
Excellent strategic skills.
Ability to fundraise.
Ability to build external partnerships, strengthens capacity, and builds teamwork.

The position
The (Trainee) Solar Technician is part of our technical team going out to site for our installations. You ensure the systems are installed at the premises of our clients in accordance with the design, sometimes you travel to site for call-outs, maintenance or site surveys. You always ensure you install quality, reliable systems and provide great service to our clients. After returning from site you ensure you write up the reports and prepare yourself for the next installation.

Requirements
Power Providers is looking for a (Trainee) Solar Technician with at least the following qualifications:
- A diploma/bachelor in engineering or equivalent experience
- Able to report digitally in a structured and timely manner
- Being able to stay professional at all times even under high stress
- Good customer service and responsiveness
- Computer literate

Chemis Geochemist for Instrumental Analytical Chemistry

Company Profile:
The African Minerals and Geoscience Centre (AMGC) formerly known as SEAMIC was assigned by the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) to host a laboratory for instrumental analytical chemistry. This laboratory will provide analytical data needed for the Analytical Fingerprint (AFP) to verify the origin of conflict minerals (cassiterite, Coltan, and wolframite). The German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) assigned by the German Federal
Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is supporting AMGC to setup this laboratory. In this context AMGC is seeking a qualified senior chemist/geochemist for setting up and running the AFP laboratory which will be equipped with a laser-ablation inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (LA-ICP- MS) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM).

Tasks and responsibilities

The senior chemist/geochemist will run the above mentioned analytical equipment and service it to the extent possible for a well-trained user. Training and steering for the position will be provided by BGR in the framework of ICGLRIBGR technical cooperation.

• The chemist/geochemist has the following tasks:
• Receive, record and analyse samples from clients
• Record, interpret and report results to the client
• Knowledge of geochemistry and analysis of geological materials
• Knowledge of Environmental analysis
• Be responsible for running the above mentioned analytical equipment to produce analytical data necessary for the AFP;
• Check the analytical quality of the obtained results;
• Perform adaption of the used methods if necessary;
• Support the development of additional applications of the equipment within the framework of the AMGC service portfolio;
• Perform the basic technical service for the above mentioned equipment;
• Organize technical support by the equipment manufacturer if necessary

• Required qualification
• The successful applicant should demonstrate the following:
• Educated to BSc level at an internationally recognized university in Chemistry grand Geochemistry; MSc level will be an added advantage
• More than 5 years of relevant work experience (including the application and development of modern instrumental analytical methods)
• Experience in mineralogy, inorganic instrumental analytical chemistry or chemo metrics would be an advantage
