Within the Russian Translation Section of the Conferences and Publications Department and under the supervision of the Head of the Section, the incumbent provides high-quality, timely and cost-effective translation services. To this end, he/she performs the following duties:
• Revises and edits for accuracy and style a wide variety of texts translated into Russian from other languages.
• Translates into Russian texts drawn up in other languages of the Union; such translations may be considered final and not subject to further review.
• Participates in the training of translators new to ITU work.
• Participates in Union conferences as team leader, reviser and translator.
• Participates in the work of editorial committees.
• Revises texts drawn up in Russian by administrations or by ITU services or Bureaux.
• Advises on translation or editing for ITU services or Bureaux.
• Contributes to the establishment of accurate terminology.
• Replaces the Head of the Section in his/her absence.

Education:

Experience:

Able to work independently and under pressure and still meet deadlines
Ability to work long hours

- Have minimum 5 years’ direct work experience in the agricultural sector, with critical exposure to Agribusiness Planning and execution, Agro-marketing and/or capacity building to farmers.
- Possess clear experience in community mobilization, staff and volunteer training, and mentorship approaches especially rural and farmer’s community.
- Possess excellent presentation and communication skills – with community approachable personalities.
- Languages required: Kiswahili and English; BUT only Swahili will be used during facilitation and preparation of guidelines and the business plan drafts.
- Have ability to work efficiently and responsively within a multicultural environment, while demonstrating strong initiative and high degree of personal motivation.
- The Consultant must be available, be willing and commit to working within timeline stipulated herein (strict and required).
- Experience of working within Southern Highlands Zone of Tanzania, experience of working with cooperative organisation (especially AMCOS) or rural enterprises is an additional advantage.
