The Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, not-for-profit, international University first established in 1983, with 13 teaching sites in 8 countries. It is a non-denominational institution open to all, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, gender or national origin. Since 2001, AKU bas offered academic programmes in nursing, medicine and education for and in countries in East Africa.

FACULTY CONTINUING EDUCATION AND LIFE LONG LEARNING
The Institute of Education, East Africa, has existed since 2007, looking to support the development of education across
East Africa through working with educational leaders on its Master of Education, research learning and dialogue, and outreach work through workshops, short courses and certificate programmes recent years the outreach work has developed significantly, much of it happening through the 'Strengthening Educational Systems in East Africa' project, funded by Global Affairs Canada and in collaboration with the Aga Khan Foundation, Academies, Madrassa and
Education Service.
In order further to develop the outreach work of the Institute, applications are invited for a Faculty position at Lecturer to Full Professor rank according to qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will have qualifications in teaching and experience of teaching at higher education level, of procuring and managing large grants for the running of teaching programmes in a developing world context. It is expected also that the successful candidate will have strong J CT
skills with an understanding also of the pedagogical applications of ICT. These teaching programmes will be aimed principally at educational professionals, looking also to develop links with heaIth and social policy.

The successful candidate will:

Work with the Project Office in identifying suitable tenders for teaching programmes;
Coordinate the writing of bid documents;
Where successful, work with the Projects Office in deploying suitable faculty for the running of the programmes;
Provide quality assurance and lead the process of CELL courses standardization
Take a major part in the teaching of the outreach programmes, leading by example through the use of a variety of
Teaching styles looking to engage learners to the maximum;
Design and conduct capacity building workshops aligned to project needs and requirements for faculty and
Professional development tutors;
Work with the Project Office in monitoring and evaluation of CELL programmes;
Take lead of supporting efficiency in CELL administration office;
Ensure the successful completion of programmes including the writing of final reports;
Maintain an active research profile based around the teaching programmes;
A suitably experienced and qualified candidate may also make some contribution to the Master of Education programme
