Job Purpose
To provide leadership and direction within NMB branch network organization to enable the bank achieve its ambition in Agency Banking and provide safe and efficient services to clients and increase income, while minimizing risk. Formulate and execute Agency Banking business strategy in alignment with the NMB vision and strategic plan.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Design, develop, roll out and manage the Agency Banking business through acquisition of agents in compliance with the set agent selection criteria and ensuring customer usage of agent outlets. 
  2. Conduct continuous product reviews, craft and develop new products as well as enhance existing ones depending on the market and customer needs changes as informed by market intelligence.
  3. Engage various institutions for partnerships in the Agency Banking business and ensure the interest of the bank is protected. 
  4. Manage the relationships of the partners to ensure that they deliver on NMBs expectations. 
  5. Execute operational excellence, cost management and compliance to internal policies and bank approved guidelines. 
  6. Provide leadership and mentoring to the Agency banking team throughout the branch network as well as Head Office team Design and implement service experience and carry out branding of agencies as well as training of agents, field officers and agent relationship managers to ensure delivery of exceptional service to customers. 
  7. Continuously monitor and review process flows and ensure availability and reliability of the agency systems for seamless agent transactions; monitor the channel for any abuse and immediately act upon all instances. 
  8. Drive Agency Banking business growth; keep track of the overall performance of the department as well as that of Agency Banking officers and Zonal Managers performance to ensure that the annual targets are achieved. Monitor the performance of branch and zonal agents and provide feedback to Zonal Managers; support the branches as far as Agency Banking is concerned. Establish and implement strategies for transaction migration through the Agents’ network, ensuring there are synergies in place with the branches and zones. 
  9. Manage annual agent licenses renewal as well as initiate and establish a robust remuneration tariff for agents. Champion customer service and implementation of quality service delivery standards to all agent networks. Review the channels’ performance targets to assess improvement and further expansion of the agency banking channels distribution based on financial and strategic analysis and report to Chief Retail Banking (CRB). 
  10. Conduct root-cause analysis, translate into action-plans and drive implementation for all issues that arise in audit reports, complaint reports, compliance reports, etc. related to agency banking operations, controls and compliance. 
  11. Provide sales and service leadership to drive the performance of the branches (process and structure) in joint responsibility with Zonal Managers for staffing and productivity management.
  12.  Provide guidance and ensure that the business interests are presented to the regulator using the correct stakeholders; ensuring that the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) guidelines on Agency Banking are adhered to. 
  13. Coordinate the production of the annual budget for the entire Agency Banking network. Compile, monitor and report annual agent objectives monthly on the achievements. 
  14. Ensuring satisfactory Audit findings for the Agency Banking network. 
  15. Monitor and approve the commission payments to partners and the entire Agent network; prepare final sign off for Chief Retail Banking (CRB). 
  16. Manage the partners through the SLA’s that are in place ensuring that any under delivery is penalized in line the agreements. 
  17. Assist in the preparation and implementation of periodic reviews of the Bank’s business plan. Create low cost best practice standardized solutions across the Agency Banking network. 
  18. Oversee and review refinement of returns; submit quarterly profitability reports based on returns. Participate in the review, design and implementation of departmental work plans and report quarterly on compliance with the work plans. 
  19. Participate and facilitate projects for new products & services and initiate operational system and process improvement. Attributes

Business understanding of banked and unbanked customer base, market segments, products & services, knowledge of government policies relating to banking, BOT regulations, bank policies & procedures Innovative, with prior experience in product development. Wide knowledge of operations including Agency Banking and understanding of the Regulatory Authority requirements. Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage competing client demands. Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiastic attitude and results oriented. Able to work in a highly demanding environment and able to meet aggressive deadlines. A proven self-starter with ability to work under high pressure environment and problem solving skills. Excellent relationship management skills and business closure techniques. Proven people, leadership and negotiation skills. Strong risk assessment and analytical skills. Strong communication and presentation skills both in person and in writing.

Qualifications and Experience
Holder of an MBA and a University Degree or equivalent post graduate qualification in Banking, Finance, Business Administration or Accounting At least 4 years of leadership experience in Agency Banking or similar role and driving business development.
