Job Description
REPORTING TO: Financial controller
PERMANENT OR TEMPORARY:
The Initial requirement is for six (6) months to manage the process of procurement and tendering processes. The successful candidate once evaluated, may be considered for continued opportunity.
OBJECTIVE:
We are looking for an experienced Procurement Officer to manage the company’s supply of products and services. Procurement Officer responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers and managing the procurement procedures to ensure correct guidelines are followed
where applicable. The Procurement Officer ’s duty is to identify ways to reduce procurement expenses and to provide adequate resources on time to the various Departments of the Company
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Devise and use fruitful sourcing strategies in line with Company’s internal procedures
- Nurture sound professional business relationship with suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
- Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous terms
- Prepare for approval the ordering of necessary goods and services
- Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
- Examine and test existing contracts
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
- Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
- Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
- Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
- Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional qualifications in either business, accounting,finance, procurement & Supply Chain or a related field required.
- PSPTB Registration
- Experience with Tanzania’s Public Procurement
- Regulatory Authority and its guidelines and practices.
- Understanding all aspects of the industry including risk management, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Understanding of accounting principles including budgeting, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and capital planning management
- Demonstrated strategic leadership ability
