Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) is a subsidiary company of The Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) established in December 2013 and came into operation in July 2014 with a mandate to spearhead geothermal resources in Tanzania.

TGDC is mandated:
To carry out geothermal exploration including geological, geochemistry, seismological, volcanological studies;
To carry business In geothermal drilling for steam and hot water .: well testing and logging, reservoir assessment and management;
To mobilize funds for geothermal development from various sources; .
To promote geothermal business and developer of alternative uses of geothermal energy than electricity including watering cultures, therapeutic uses, geothermal bathing, drying of farm products and all industrial and non-industrial uses;

Position: Mechanical/Electromechanical Engineers (6 Posts) - Ref: TGDCIHRlO16
Reporting to: Manager Engineering & Drilling Services
Directorate: Technical Services
POSITION OBJECTIVE

Ensure successful execution of plans, costs. and schedules and oversees of mechanical, electrical and geothermal drilling operations for TGDC. Responsible for supervising drilling and service contracts; electrical mechanical engineering design and budget control.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect data, carrying out engineering analysis on site and recommending necessary actions; .
Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques;
Keep track of current daily costs, comparing actual costs with expenditure proposals and recommending cost-effective changes;
Involve administering drilling and service contracts, electrical mechanical engineering, design and the planning, of wells;
Produce details of specifications and outline designs for drilling contractors;
Ensure successful execution of plans, costs, schedules and supervision of drilling operations;
Supervise the drilling crew on site and duties pertaining to drilling activities;
Monitor drilling progress, oversee safety management and ensure the protection of the environment;
Working with multidisciplinary professionals evaluate the commercial viability of the well and monitor progress during drilling; to Effectively monitor and ensure cost effective drilling operations as well as strict adherence to drilling ramp-up and drilling schedules; and
Obtaining relevant data, carrying out engineering analysis on site and recommending necessary actions and writing up reports.
Promotes health and safety within the workplace

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical
Engineering or equivalent; .
Minimum 0-1 year of demonstrable and relevant working experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Attention to details:
Interpersonal and negotiation skills
Ability to build productive working relationships and work within a team;
Ability to prioritize tasks;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills'
Pro-active and capable of delivering excellent results while working under pressure with tight deadlines'
Sound skills on software packages such as AutoCAD etc .
