Construction Technician at One Acre Fund

Construction Technician POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are an international NGO with a strong footprint in Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania: In these countries our 3,000+ strong staff serves over 200,000 smallholding farmers and helps them to grow their way out of hunger and poverty.
We are seeking an individual to manage various and complex construction and maintenance needs of our new office site.

You will be in charge of organizing the process for key infrastructure improvements to our new office and outfitting our new office to the highest level using your carefully crafted team of professionals (electricians, plumbers, etc).
Your Role
• Work closely with supervisor to oversee the overall design and process of repairing a office building to meet office needs and demands. Overseeing the day-to-day construction processes and work done to ensure highest quality and accuracy
• Work closely with the organization to design a new office space (including layout, infrastructure improvements, furnishing, etc.)
• Oversee and manage the day-to-day infrastructure repair process; directly supervising with all contractors and handymen
• Actively suggest new concepts and designs to best suit the organization’s culture and needs
• Research labor and material prices to ensure best quality and pricing
• Document control for payment requests and procurement requests
• Work to strict deadlines
• Quality Control – Ensure projects are of the highest possible quality
• Keep to tight & honest budgets
• Weekly Project Update Meeting with Supervisor
• Miscellaneous – Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor

• We are seeking exceptional professionals with 1-2 years of work experience in engineering or architecture with great leadership skills.
• Attended technical school in construction, architecture, design, or engineering
• Extremely passionate about design
• Experience leading and managing a construction project and workers
• Fluent in Swahili; Proficiency in English
• Excellent communication, people skills, problem-solver, creative, gritty
• High attention to detail with regards to quality
• Extremely organized, Independent and motivated
• Creative problem solver
• High level of professionalism
• Excellent communication
