WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) - the international conservation
organization - is seeking to recruit a competent and motivated Assistant
Accountant to be based in Dar es Salaam.
Main task: Under the directives of the Financial Analyst, the Assistant Programme Accountant's responsibilities will be to: provide hands on support to the Finance team on all financial and operational issues to ensure effective management of the TCO Programs and projects.
Oversee implementation of donor and WWF's operational policies, procedures standards and systems including budget management. financial reporting, audits etc.;.
Support and coordinate development of program's operational. strategic and business plans and ensure effective
implementation of the same, and Perform other functions as may be directed by the Financial
Analyst and TCO Head of Finance.
Major part of her/his responsibilities: Shall involve Cash Management such as to ensure that petty cash fund is locked in a secure place at all times. that all disbursements from the fund have proper back-up and supporting vouchers (i.e. IOUs, invoices and receipts) and are in accordance with current WWF Tanzania Purchasing Policies; ensure that at all times the total of the receipts plus the cash is equal the fund balance.; Ensure prepared PCVs indicate all necessary information (PCV No; Date; Payee; Payment description; Currency; WWF paying office; Payment Ref No.; GL code; Project No.; Donor No.; expenditure Details; and the amount to be paid.) Maintain petty cash summaries which should be balanced on a daily basis; Performance of regular Petty cash funds reconciliations; Performance of monthly petty cash reconciliation as of the last day of each month;
Ensure completion of a reconciliation form within 15 days of the required reporting date for
approval by Head of Finance.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have first degree in Accounting, with at least 2 years' work
experience as Accountant in a reputable organization; Experience working with international NGO
involved in environmental and/or community development programs would be an advantage.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili, proven experience and
sensitivity of working with people of different cultures
