Deputy Vice Chancellor – Academic POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Mzumbe University is a fully accredited Public University established under 2007 Charter. The University is seeking to recruit a qualified person to fill the following vacant position'-

DEPUTY VICE CHANCELLOR- ACADEMIC
(i) Qualifications:
The applicant should hold a PhD from accredited University and have attained a status of Professor or
Associate Professor and should have outstanding academic and administrative experience at a Senior
Management level in a higher education institution. -

(ii) Duties
(i) Deputize for the Vice Chancellor during the Vice Chancellor's absence from Office;
(ii) Be the Principal assistant and chief advisor to the Vice-Chancellor on all academic matters of the University.
(iii) Endeavor to promote academic excellence by ensuring appropriate quality control mechanism are in place and human capital is adequately deployed;
(iv) Make or cause to be made continuous review of the academic programmes to ensure their relevance and responsiveness to the market demands.

(iii) Tenure of Office:
Hold office for a term of Four years and may be reappointed consecutively for one further term of four
years on merit.

(iv) AGE
Applicants should not be above 55 years

(iv) Salary
PUTS 6 plus 20%, a free fully furnished house, full time transport and other benefits' as provided for in
the Treasury circulars released from time to time and the Mzumbe University Council.
