POSITION: TPSF /01 CHIEF ACCOUNTANT
POSITION SUMMARY: The Chief Accountants key role is to ensure a strong finance and accounting system that adequately safeguards TPSF resources.
REQUIREMENTS: The Chief Accountant shall report to the
Executive Director
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compile the work plan and annual budget.
Evaluate current revenue trends and forecast funds that will be available to operate the TPSF activities on a sustainable basis;
Implement continuous financial and control systems to monitor the performance, flow of funds, adherence to budget, income and expenditure and other budgetary items and when necessary, recommend courses of action to correct budget imbalances;
Prepare and present financial statements and reports as required to the Board of Directors and Donors
Regularly advise the Executive Director on financial issues through periodic reports and consultations and alert against any irregularity, lack of compliance, lack of adherence and problems whether actual or potential concerning the financial systems, operations, plans, accounting, audits, budgets and any other matter of a financial nature.
Maintain a working relationship and develop additional relationships with banks and financial institutions with the aim of securing the funds necessary for the operations' of the organization, the attainment of its development plans and its investments
Coordinate the review and develop sound financial policies, systems and tools for the organization on periodic basis
Co-ordinate and support the auditing processes of the organization's accounts once every year, and facilitating its review and approval by relevant organs within the organization.
Oversee and support unit staff on their day-to-day work and ensure their timely appraisal and development.
Allocate the department's resources in an efficient ,manner and ensure the effective operation as a cost

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA or Min Degree in Accounting/Finance/ ACCA qualification
Relevant experience in audit and costing is advantageous.
Excellent strategic planning skills and able to interact with all levels. .
Good MS Office skills particularly strong capabilities in
MS Excel.
At least 5 years experience in professional accounting and financial administration in a complex accounting function. (Experience in Donor Funded Project is an added advantage.)
Good IT skills including the ability to operate and manage computerized financial" payroll systems,
spreadsheet and word-processing programs
Familiarity in QuickBooks is advantageous

Able to work independently and highly meticulous.
Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
Well developed analytical and problem solving skills
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Effective communication skills
