Job Description

One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers with the financing and training they need to grow their way out of hunger and poverty. Instead of giving handouts, we invest in farmers to generate a permanent gain in farm income. We supply a complete service bundle of seeds and fertilizer, financing, training, and market facilitation—and we deliver these services within walking distance of the 400,000 rural farmers we serve.
One Acre Fund is growing very first with key processes have been put in place to serve over 1,000,000+ smallholder farmers in 2020. The Internal Audit department has been mandated with the responsibility of reviewing this process to ensure seamless process flow and service delivery to the many smallholder farmers we serve.
Job Descriptions:
  • Represent Wanging’ombe district in Njombe  Region at all relevant Field Operations meetings, such as the weekly Field Leaders meeting, and provide field experience, feedback, support and suggestions for other districts as well as any relevant other departments
  • Represent Field Operations Leadership at any relevant meetings, such as HQ Managers Meeting
  • Lead Wanging’ombe district  meetings each week by supporting field staff in the meeting’s execution to team standards
  • Spend 3+ days each week in the field supporting various levels of field staff execute organizational goals
  • Spend energy during every field visit to follow up on cash collection procedure, and check all mistakes or fraud
  • Directly manage and mentor the FMs within the district in their role, preparing them for potential promotion through skill development
  • Prepare bi-annual performance reviews for direct reports, and support the execution of performance reviews for all levels of the field staff in the district, in addition to regular feedback and performance tracking
  • Act as a quality control to ensure that Field Training Team and district training teams continue to deliver the highest quality agriculture training to our farmers, in line with the latest research and agronomical advice.
  • Support the Field Training Team or other departments with feedback and ideas for improvement in order to continuously develop and improve our any field-facing trainings in their content, or execution, whether they be for staff or farmers
  • Ensure all staff performance and development activities are carried out with integrity and in line with One Acre Fund policy and values within Njombe  Region
  • Show a commitment to treating staff fairly at all times in line with One Acre Fund policies through building a productive, professional, and pleasant working culture in Njombe Region for all field staff so they can achieve the maximum potential and meet organizational goals
  • Execute key repayment, agricultural and expansion strategies in  wanging’ombe district after providing input to Field Leadership on strategy creation/design in order to hit team and organization-level targets
  • Hold self and district team accountable for setting and achieving clear numerically focused goals and targets
  • Commit to uphold the One Acre Fund Customer Protection principles in executing all field strategy for all members of the field team in in  your district
  • Analyze KPIs and any KPI analysis provided on a daily basis in order to have full picture of strengths as well as areas for growth, and implement successful strategies in order to bring continuous improvement
  • Support FMs in accurate data collection through daily and weekly KPI submissions to Field HQ
  • Support fully any and all product innovations and program innovations to successfully design and implement field based trials in your district through working collaboratively in order to serve our farmers best
  • Support the successful execution of Core Field Operations activities, which include: REPAYMENT, INPUT DELIVERY, FARMER REFUNDS, CONTRACTS, etc. through overseeing implementation of strategies in order to hit team and organization-level targets, such as 100% repayment, 80% client retention, and 95% planting string and scoop adherence.
  • Collaborate with members from Government Relations, Human Resources, and Audit in any team or farmer-related issues to bring about quick resolution
  • Execute staff performance management and HR policies for the field staff at wanging’ombe district, running any staffing changes or disciplinary actions to both HR and the Field Operations Department Lead. All hires, fires, and promotions must be confirmed by two levels before executed
  • Drive the importance of impact to all levels of the field team, and positively motivate them about the work they provide
  • Prepare weekly reports to be submitted to the Field Field Director and Senior Field director, to provide up-to-date information about the performance, successes, and issues faced by the district OR support your SFD with the most updated information who will prepare this report
  • Be available to execute or fill any new roles and responsibilities at the discretion of your reporting manager.
Feedback and Manager Support:  The holder of the post will be supported directly by Field Leaders of your district, as well as the Field Operations Department Lead.  The role holder will receive 6 month career performance to update on performance, and to provide constructive feedback and career development guidance.  The post holder will be able to partake in all suitable management training offered by One Acre Fund where reasonably possible.
This position serves farmers by: playing a key role in the management of a Pod-level field team to execute key strategies related to agricultural training, repayment collection, customer service support, and continual staff training and growth in order to ensure all registered clients in the district have the best client experience possible, and are supported through their opportunity to improve their lives through quality agricultural inputs & impactful products.
Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication in Swahili
  • Proven Ability of field-based competency
  • Demonstration of commitment to exhibiting One Acre Fund values
  • Data interpretation of pod level related to performance management and an understanding of numbers and mathematics
  • Ability to execute tasks on time and work plan with direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability to work through a team to drive results against organizational goals
  • Bachelor Degree from a recognized institution
