The PROTECT Project is a five-year’s USAID-funded initiative implemented by International Resources Group (IRG). The objective of PROTECT is to address the dynamics that threaten biodiversity conservation and inhibit private sector-led growth in Tanzania's natural resource sector. IRG is seeking to recruit for the position of Communications Specialist.
Responsibilities:
The Communications Specialist shall be responsible for supporting the following activities:
• Provide guidance on document formats, including branding and parking in accordance with USAID policies.
• Design and format press releases, project summaries, fact sheets, social media posts and other communications materials to highlight project successes and challenges.
• Work with administrative staff to coordinate media events, preparing relevant materials and: promotional materials to advance project initiatives. I
• Support technical activities related to social behavior change communications campaigns with communications and social media outreach.
• Draft success stories per USAID guidelines.
• Serve as project photographer.
• Support partners implementing communications-related grants.
• Assist in managing and facilitating public outreach events (launch events, close-out events, campaigns, stakeholder consultation meetings, etc.) which are being funded, sponsored, or led by the PROTECT Project.
• Work closely with the Communications Team Lead to develop communications for the project.
• Develop communications materials, including project one-pagers, fact sheets, grants program materials, signage, business cards, etc. in accordance with PROTECT's branding and marking plan and USAID Standard Graphics Manual.
• Manage a comprehensive list of technical and operational stakeholders. This list should include stakeholder name, contact information (telephone, email, address), as well as any key notes.
• Read and share important news or events relevant to the PROTECT Project (this may come from social media, newspapers, email list serves, etc.); and, ensure that updates are shared with the entire project team in a timely manner.
• Complete any other duties/activities in line with the project's objectives, the employee's abilities, and as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in journalism, social marketing, and/or advertising
USAID communications experience desirable
Experience preparing communications plans
Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
Strong photographic skills preferred
Excellent attention to detail, able to meet deadlines and produce quality documents
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher.
Bachelor's degree required in relevant field.
Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
