Description
SUMMARY:
This position is primarily responsible to support the Senior Project Officer in the implementation of the CWS livelihood project Regenerated Freirean Literacy through Empowering Community Techniques (REFLECT Project) currently on-going in Nyarugusu refugee camp.
SUPERVISION:
This position reports directly to the Senior Project Officer in Kasulu
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assists the Senior Project Officer in the daily management of the REFLECT project activities
Provide support in selecting beneficiaries for the project
Provide support in organizing life-skills, literacy and numeracy classes
Provide support in issuing tests and performance review exercises to the beneficiaries
Provide support in organizing short term livelihood courses
Performs any other duties as required by the Senior Project Officer and Emergency Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years of directly related experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience:
Prior experience working in a national or International NGO
Knowledge of the Project Cycle Management
Experience working with vulnerable communities and community services office is required
Knowledge/ Skills:
Good oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili
Knowledge of Kirundi or Kiha an added advantage
Abilities:
The REFLECT Project Assistant must have the ability to:
meet deadlines;
pay attention to details;
maintain confidential information;
manage a large and diverse workload under pressure with competing priorities;
work well as a team in a multi-cultural environment while maintaining a high level of motivation;
effectively manage CWS resources.
Physical requirements: This position requires bending, squatting, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, pushing/ pulling, handling objects (manual dexterity), using fine finger movements and lifting/carrying moderate loads.
Working environment: Incumbents in this position will be based in CWS Kasulu office with regular traveling to Nyarugusu refugee camp.
