Kilimo Markets Ltd is a young, growing and innovative private business with a social impact working in the agriculture sector providing business services to small holder farmers in Northern Tanzania.
The company invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the following vacancy currently based in Arusha, but with weekly travels to other areas in Tanzania.
Field Purchase Control Manager
Core Responsibilities:
1. Collaboration with Kilimo Markets’ Senior Management Team in Arusha to develop company business and markets for grain purchased at Kilimo Markets’ field aggregation points,
2. Supervision of Kilimo Markets’ Field Staff, manage, supervise and control procurement, purchasing and logistics of grain at Kilimo Markets aggregation points according to procedures of correctness and transparency,
3. Supervision of Kilimo Markets Field Staff, ensure complete documented, traceable and auditable cash and grain purchase, inventory data management and reporting at all Kilimo Markets aggregation points.
Other Responsibilities
1. Develop business relationships with suppliers in highly productive regions, establish new business partners, and promote business to business opportunities for long term benefit to farmers working with Kilimo Markets Ltd.
2. Supervise the effective implementation of KM Procedures which comply with Strategic Country Business Plans working closely with Head Office Management Teams for effective design, delivery, and evaluation.
3. Lead Regional Office teams in all aspects of the Value Chain Processes including contracts, logistics, collection, procurement, warehousing, storage, financial control procedures, value addition, and quality control. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in implementing cost management principles, paying close attention to details, financial capabilities, to ensure profitable return on investment.
4. Supervise implementation of field activities, field staff, visiting field offices weekly, arranging staff and field meetings as well as knowledge sharing and improving activities
5. Support Marketing Manager with maintaining existing and developing new local and national sales contracts
6. Contract Management and Supervision of Seed Growers, supervision of field staff activities on Seed.
7. Develop Training Materials and Reports, supporting proposal writing, collection of Data
8. Human Resource Management (HRM) assistance in the field
9. Implementing administrative activities and tasks at head office level
10. Relationship Management between Field and Head Office - facilitation of good communication between the different field offices and head office
Core Qualifications:
• University degree in Business, Finance, Administration, Economics, Law, Logistics, Food Technology, Marketing or equivalent.
• At least 3-5 years’ practical experience in business development, managing businesses preferably agribusiness or other administrative experience, preferably in a liaison role between field and head office management.
• Over 2 years of experience in leadership positions or demonstrated progressive responsibility in management.
• High attention to detail and correctness.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as this position is foreseen to effectively communicate with the Head Office Business Operations and with farmers, business partners, service providers, government officials, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Effective understanding of the Agricultural Sector in Tanzania, especially to the geographical regional to be covered.
• Strong ability to understand financial auditing, stock monitoring, and procurement procedures.
• Ability to develop sales and marketing channels in local and regional markets, and lead active sales teams to ensure efficient marketing and delivery systems.
• Excellent problem solver and communication skills with Head Office, Country Management, and Company Directors.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate adherence and commitment to the highest levels of professionalism and integrity in their work.
Other Qualifications:
• Preferred: Extensive knowledge of developing strategic plans, finance, farmer business, farmer organization and warehouse operation.
• Experience in Seed of advantage.
• Experience in designing and implementing training material and reports,
• Ability in managing and developing staff
• Demonstrated capacity in designing monitoring & evaluation/business development systems and reports in English and Kiswahili
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people
• Innovation with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and with a high focus on integrity
• High attraction to work with a growing business and serving small farmers
• Willingness to travel frequently
