Background of Totohealth Tanzania Ltd.
Totohealth is a social enterprise based in Moshi town, Kilimanjaro Region. Totohealth aims to contribute towards reaching Tanzania’s national vision of ending preventable maternal and child deaths by 2035. We offer a set of services available over the span of pregnancy, delivery and up to 5 years of a child’s life. Our package of solutions include (1) information, education and communication (IEC) through a interactive text messaging platform, (2) life-saving products including a comprehensive Clean Delivery Kit (CDK) to be used at delivery, and (3) Newborn Survival Pack (NSP) with applicable supplies for the mother and for newborn survival for first month of life. All these services are implemented in partnership with local District Government Departments, organisations & NGOs with mothers as clients. Our goals is to support Community Health Workers (CHWs) that are linked to these organisations to better provide IEC, continuum of care at household level, and get mothers to deliver with the help of a skilled birth attendant (at a health facility), and have access to the products they need at health-facility and household level.
Position description
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) will lead, administer and coordinate all of the internal operational activities of Totohealth Tanzania in accordance with policies, goals and objectives established by the Board and management team. The COO will be responsible for the following functions: operations (& logistics), sales and stock. The COO will be part of the senior management team along with the Finance Manager, Business Development Officer & Country Manager.
Responsibilities
● Responsible and accountable for activities in term of operations, logistics, stock, warehousing, sales, and procurement.
● Part of Senior Management Team, overseeing strategic input on all operations
● Participate in the development and preparation of strategic plans and budgets based on goals and objectives
● Setup clear business processes for each company unit (procurement, sales, stock etc)
● Responsible for the development of systems, procedures and controls, to promote communication, control and adequate information flow, to improve management control of procurement, sales and stocks.
● Lead procurement and importation of all key commodities and supplies required for products
● Create and manage agreements with all suppliers
● Develop CRM to manage all customer relationships in effective, efficient, transparent manner
● Support Country Manager/BDO to network and partner with organizations and institutions to broaden Totohealth’s impact and outreach
● Support Country Manager to conduct introductory meeting to regional, district government and implementing partners on Totohealth services
● Create sale targets for Sales Representatives and supervise them in their strategic activities
● Responsible for all inbound and outbound logistics, assembly and procurement tasks
● Improve and document all business processes. Maintain a log of improvement areas and report solutions based on root cause analysis.
● Ensure product quality meets the agreed standards
● Ensure all end-consumer site registration details are recorded & uploaded to central database
● Judicious cost management to achieve business plan
● Train and equip staff with efficient procedures for their work to be effective and efficient
● Support other activities and tasks on a needs basis

Qualifications:
● University degree in business administration, program management, development studies, or other social science area; Masters Degree preferred
Experience and skills
● At least 5 years private sector working experience
● Already worked in East Africa and understands how to navigate in the start-up stage
● Experience with program implementation in maternal and child health or other health activities
(preferred)
● Experience in sales, marketing and procurement
● Experience with working with regional and district authorities
● Excellent interpersonal skills, including team work and individual excellence
● Has managed a team of staff before
● Experience in drafting budgets and executing activities as per planned budget/resource allocation
● Excellent time management skills
● Excellent written, oral and presentation skills in both English and Swahili (preferred)
● Excellent networking skills
● Strong computer literacy (excel, google drive, apps)
