Management and Development for Health, (MDH) is a non for profit organization in Tanzania contributing to address public health priorities. MDH works with the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, academic and non-academic institutions within the. country and worldwide, to address the problems of tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS, nutrition, maternal and child health and to undertake initiatives to advance public health research, education, and services for improving the lives of people.
MDH is looking for competent persons to fill the following position:
Position: Statistician
Report to: Deputy Director of Strategic Information
MDH is seeking to recruit a statistician who will be a key technical person in the data analysis and report writing.
Job Summary:
The Statistician will play a key role in routine analysis of data' and designing public health evaluations projects for the organization. S/he is expected to offer some of his/her time to build capacity of other MDH Data staff on board.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide overall leadership in the statistician analysis of data including data management
2. Ensure completeness and comprehensiveness of program routine reports to respond to donors and other stakeholders.
3. Perform routine statistical analysis of data collected from the facilities to assess the progress in achievements of program targets.
4. Develop and implement a capacity building plan for other technical staffs to improve their analysis skills.
5. Prepare statistical tables and analysis for all secondary analysis performed by MDH team.
6. Participate in developing and implementation of data quality-assurance mechanisms.
7. Training of district and facility staffs in simple data analysis, interpretation and use
8. And all other tasks as assigned by the supervisor I
Required qualification
1. A minimum of masters' degree in biostatistics.
2. Additional training in public health will be added advantage
Experience, skills and knowledge
1. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in working at high level statistical data analysis position especially in HIV care and treatment setting
2. Demonstrated data analysis skills and report writing skills using SAS and STATA
3. Ability to communicate fluently in English and Kiswahili
4. Ability to work both as individual and as a team with minimum supervision
